Welcome to my pickleball instruction webpage!  My name is Galen Grant, I am a long time pickleball enthusiast and certified PPR pickleball coach. On this page you’ll find some information about my pickleball journey and coaching services.   My late Grandmother Rena Grant was the first USA Pickleball Ambassador of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was dedicated to getting people of all ages off of the couch and onto the pickleball courts. She played pickleball well into her 80’s, competed in the Senior Games and started the Myrtle Beach Seaside Classic pickleball tournament. In 2018, a few years after my grandmother's passing I decided to follow in her footsteps and join the growing community of pickleball players. 

  As a young athlete I earned my high school varsity letter in soccer and baseball. Did you know that many skills in baseball are instantly transferable to pickleball? Hand/eye coordination skills like ‘batter’s eye’, which is the ability to see the strike zone while batting, are very useful in reading out balls on the pickleball court. Also, understanding the footwork involved in catching a fly ball is very useful in retrieving a lob in pickleball. These sports helped me gain an appreciation for teamwork and athletic ability. During that time I played racquet sports like badminton, table tennis and racquet ball recreationally. After high school I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to study music. Music has always been my main focus. I have been playing drums for over 30 years now and started teaching drums in 2006. As a dedicated and experienced music educator, when I got hooked on playing pickleball in 2018 it seemed like a natural progression for me to begin coaching. So I began to compete in local pickleball tournaments in the Bay Area at the Oakland Hills Tennis Club and at a very competitive monthly round robin in Piedmont, CA. I consistently finished in the top 4 out of 16 players. This experience earned me a 4.2 DUPR rating and opened the door to instructing one-on-one and group pickleball lessons in 2021. Today I am the Pickleball Coordinator at the Miller Center YMCA in Lewisburg Pennsylvainia where I lead clinics, and direct tournaments. During the summer of 2024 I became the pickleball pro at the Eagles Mere Country Club in north central Pennsylvainia. I am also a member of USA Pickleball Association and am a certified PPR Coach holding on-court insurance, a CPR/First Aid certificate from the AHA and all of the appropriate clearences necessary for coaching the next generation of youth pickleball players!

  I’d be delighted to introduce you and your group to the sport or help you improve on the court and make pickleball a part of your lifestyle! Currently I am coaching private lessons outdoors at The Lewisburg Area Recreation Park (St. Mary’s) in Lewisburg and the Eagles Mere Country Club, and indoors at the Miller Center YMCA and Donald Heiter Community Center in downtown Lewisburg, PA.

Lesson rates:

One-on-One private lesson: $45 (Purchase a 4 lesson package for $160 and save $20!)

 Group of 2-3 players: $60

 Group lesson of 4 players: $20 per person/ $80

 Group lesson of 5-8 players: $100-120

 Team building experiences, larger group clinic rates, and travel fees assessed at booking.

 * All lessons are one hour in length and a $5 court rental fee is added to all indoor lessons.

* Payments can be made via, Cash, Check, PayPal, Zelle, or Venmo
